“Hoera, Ik kan al lezen!” part II – the global edition

By | 15 november 2013

Hoi peeps,

kreeg zojuist dit in mijn mailbox, klinkt nogal tof, de dynamische kracht van social media gebruiken om journal club op te spicen, ik zeg doen!

Hi everyone,

I have an educational blog website called Academic Life in Emergency Medicine (ALiEM). I wanted to announce that today, Annals of EM and ALiEM just partnered to pilot a 7-day, global journal club starting Monday, Nov 18 on ALiEM. This piggybacks onto the established Journal Club series from Annals. We will be conducting a discussion of 5 of the JC questions amongst the entire EM community, led by members of the ALiEM team and editorial board at Annals. We will also be discussing this on Twitter using the hashtag #ALiEMJC. A summary of the global community responses will be included in the follow-up Annals publication, paired with the already planned Journal Club expert answers. Great quotes from the blog may be included!

We especially hope to use this to engage residents worldwide to participate in a scholarly discussion and critical appraisal of November’s article:
Emergency Department Computed Tomography Utilization in the United States and Canada

Would you please let your residents know about this innovative opportunity to participate? Let’s harness the dynamic power of social media to spice up journal club! Everyone is encouraged to leave a comment and/or ask a question. If successful, I hope that this will launch more collaborative efforts bridging the social media world with the traditional journal world in graduate medical education.
